False Accusations Against
Pregnancy Help Centers
No condemnation of attacks against them. |

Education: Seven pro-abortion senators recently wrote a letter to Heartbeat International, an umbrella organization serving over 2800 affiliated pregnancy help centers. They expressed concerns that Heartbeat affiliates collect personal information from clients which “may be used to put women’s health and freedom to choose in jeopardy, and to put them and their health care providers at risk of criminal penalties.” In the letter they referred to Heartbeat affiliates as “using a variety of false and misleading tactics” and being “not legitimate medical providers”. They cited cases where prosecutions were pursued against women using “digital trails” as evidence. Those digital trails were text messages, internet searches, or Facebook messages,

with no connection to pregnancy help centers. They requested that Heartbeat answer a series of questions about what information they collected, how they used it, how long information was kept, how it was kept secure, if information had ever been subpoenaed, etc. (1) Time magazine published an article with several quotes from the Senators’ letter. (2)
Heartbeat International President Jor-El Godsey, replied with a statement that included the following:”… not one of the Senators listed in the letter condemned actual violence and vandalism against pregnancy help centers this summer. Instead, they've spent their time fabricating a narrative on unfounded speculation…. What we do is safe, secure, and legal. Heartbeat has been providing help for more than fifty years and never once did we receive any of these questions or concerns until recently, and then from those with a clear abortion agenda. It's politics, and we regret only that it's a distraction to our important work of helping women find alternatives to abortion. “(1) The approximately 77% of pregnancy help centers which offer limited obstetrical ultrasounds (and/or STI testing) follow all the applicable laws related to being a medical facility. Prayer: Dear Father God, please help the truth to be known about how pregnancy centers help women, because they care about women. Help our country to understand that those who condemn pregnancy centers want women to only have one choice – abortion, rather than being helped to find better alternatives. Help the centers who were vandalized this summer to completely recover from the damage done and be able to continue helping the greater number of women who may need their help. Help women in every state to find the help they need, from pregnancy centers and other programs to help single moms.
